27 Princess Street (Kingston, Ontario, Canada)

Located in historic downtown Kingston, Ontario, this beautiful rounded corner building was designed by noted architect George Browne in 1841. This building has been occupied by piano manufacturer, Weber and Wormwith (1864-1940); The Kingston Vehicle Company (1894-1900) manufactured buggies and spring wagons. During the Second World War the Canadian military used the building as storehouse and barracks. Later abandoned in 1959 by the Department of Veterans Affairs, local businessmen Maurice Smith and Percy Robinson purchased the building and opened an S&R Department store which closed in 2009. The property underwent a major facelift in 2012. Our North Country Unfading Black and North Country Unfading Green (12” x 8” x ¼”) was supplied for this project. All of the Unfading Green slates were trimmed with clipped corners on site to add a classic touch to this custom pattern slate roof.
