Slated for Excellence Projects of the Year Awards

North Country Slate is excited to announce the 2025 Slated for Excellence Projects of the Year is now open for submissions. Roofing contractors across North America can submit their top natural slate roofing projects from 2025 for a chance to win by January 31st, 2026.

If your roofing company is eager to showcase their skills, the awards provide roofing contractors a platform to display their work, strengthen their professional reputation, and share their passion for slate roofing.

Participation in the awards program is free of charge, and contractors may submit multiple entries. Submissions must demonstrate exemplary skills in natural slate roofing and include high-quality images as well as a detailed project write-up about the project itself.

How Does Judging Work?

Once the submission period closes, a panel of judges experienced in natural slate roofing will evaluate and score each project based on the following criteria:

  • Reasoning – Why natural slate?
    • Why was natural slate used for this roofing project? What circumstances existed with the building, and what benefits made it clear that natural slate was the best roofing choice?
  • Project Challenges
    • Were there any technical, structural, or environmental challenges to successfully overcome when using natural slate roofing materials? How does the project demonstrate the durability, reliability and the overall long-lasting use of natural slate roofing?
  • Distinction
    • Why is this project different from other natural slate roofing projects? What makes it stand out above the rest?
  • Aesthetics
    • Does the project showcase an aesthetic appeal or exhibit impressive technical complexity?
