The 2013-2014 winter will certainly go down in the history books as one of North America’s worst winters. Mother Nature made sure most of North America got a good taste of winter and what it was like to experience a “polar vortex”! From Toronto’s ice storm at Christmas, frost quakes in the Midwest, snow in Atlanta and icy roads in Florida. Storm after storm this winter really was a beast! Now that most of the storms have cleared the show must go on and quarries are now trying to prepare to ramp up for spring production.
Glendyne Quarries, the producer of North Country Unfading Black roofing slate, began removing snow from its quarry recently. March 2nd, 2014 is the official opening day and a goal to produce 400 tons per month of US slate roofing products.
