Our blue/black slate shingles require minimal maintenance, unaffected by freeze / thaw cycles, and are environmentally safe and backed by our 75-year warranty. With stringent thickness and dimensional tolerances, standard slate thicknesses include 3/16”, 1/4” and 3/8”. Slate nail holes are individual punched with counter sink, not drilled. Material is produced to a higher standard and with easy trimming characteristics it provides many installation efficiencies saving both time and money on the rooftop. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the historic museum district, is where you will find the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts – Visual Arts Center. North Country Unfading Black was installed by local slate roofing contractor, Sanger’s Quality Roofing, in 2007 to match this historic black slate roof. Being able to match the existing 12”x8”x1/4” blue/black slate size in a timely fashion, was a key factor in choosing North Country Black as the selected contractor was able complete the new roof installation prior to winter.
